We'll Be The Pirate Twins Again!

In response to the scores of requests since Aldermaston in February (thank you guys, your support is awesome!), Andrew and I decided to roll the ‘Golden Age of Wireless’ show out one more time!

We’re not sure of the date yet… we’re currently scoping suitable venues in London but we’ll inform everyone in plenty of time to sort travel and/or accommodation.

This site will be undergoing a re-vamp soon… but the old blog, detailing our progress and creation of the Aldermaston GAOW show is still available as an archive.

To whet your appetites, we’ve just finished a recording of ‘Weightless’ which can be accessed on the music page. There’s also a brand new blog post about the production of the track! Are we good to you, or what? :)

And because loads of you asked about a video of the Aldermaston gig (something we didn't have any time to organise properly) we're also planning to video this next show, with audio from the desk, if we can. If anyone wants to help out with that please let us know... :)

The Pirate Twins… Who Are They?

The Pirate Twins comprise Andrew (keyboards & programming) and Darren (vocals & bass). They both have a passion for early ‘80s electronica, particularly the music of Thomas Dolby.

Darren currently runs his own digital media business but spent time in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s as a working musician, playing live and in studios. Andrew is a business analyst at Macmillan Publishing during the day and a creative producer at night… both guys spend many hours hunched over midi-controllers, basses and Macs in pursuit of the lost chord...

In-between personal projects they’ve been working on Dolby material for the last two years. An opportunity arose in October 2008 to play a private party and again in early 2009 at an event called 'Synthetic'. Both gigs went down so well, the Twins hatched plans for a bigger production… re-creating the entire ‘Golden Age of Wireless’ album at a show in Aldermaston in February this year. The show was so successful they've been persuaded (wasn't too hard!) to do it all over again.
